The large bird cage is good for housing birds of breed such as parakeets, canaries, cockatiels, love birds, parrotlets, ringneck doves, pionuses, senegals and finches, or even to birds of similar size since the bar spacing is fixed at 3/8 inches.
Features
The cage is made of welded carbon steel and is available in black and white color non-toxic finishes. The cage is wrapped with seven distributed feeder doors. The front door is installed in a manner wherein it can be opened by swinging it out. It is then not that advisable since some of the birds might fly out of the cage once it is opened. As seen on the picture of the cage, the front door is quite huge as compared to the total area of the cage. Such escape might not be well prevented.
The design allows the top cage to be detached from the base once decided to be situated somewhere else. Upon delivery, the parts are already pre-assembled. Some assemblies are still however needed. For easier cleaning, a removable sliding grate and removable metal tray that can be slid are installed below the cage. It has a large steel-made front door with a snapping lock, which can not be easily knocked open from the inside, thus maintaining a well-fastened housing.
Carbon steel is the main material of construction used in building the cage. This is the most common type of steel that is available in the market. However, it’s tough are very much limited since it is the most frail among all materials of construction. It is then considered as the cheapest iron being used in construction. It can easily rust. Nonetheless, one of the best features stated above is the non-toxic coat.
The use of such paint was brought about by newly established environmental regulations and also, by consumer demand. Not to mention, this paint is durable, cost-effective and less harmful to human, animal and environmental health. This coating then protects the steel from rust.
On the other hand, one of the major disadvantages of using this cage is the fact that the cage is completely and stiffly sealed. No open play pen top area is incorporated in the design thus your birds are only limited to spending their lifetime inside the cage. Another is that no benches are available for other birds to rest and for some bird toys to be placed.
The cage is relatively cheap compared to that of the other cages that as added features—features that are detailed earlier. It is to be noted that once a bird is not satisfied with its home, you will be hearing screeching and other unruly behavior from your birds. It is then more advisable to buy a cage that is not only well secured but should also be one that has more added factors that can enhance your birds’ social, mental and psychological behaviors.
Moreover, the cage is aesthetically unattractive, considering that it is plainly black or white and that no other colors are available to at least blend to the area of your home to where it will be situated.
